Charuka Arora (b.1993), post graduated in Fashion Design from Domus Academy, Milan & Pearl academy, Delhi.
Her works have been exhibited in several groups exhibitions in India. And, she has worked on a few prestigious clients in India and abroad.
Charuka’s work investigates on the emotional & psychological aspects of an urban woman’s life & her quest for identity. In context to the ever changing environmental, cultural & political times of the 21st century.
She creates pieces that frequently begin with a response from her personal experiences in life but are eventually evolved further into something much more than her.
Born & brought up in a small town (Agra,India) I was very early in my life introduced to the concept of identity and a miss of it.
Hence, my works are a symphony of an urban woman’s (often myself) quest for her identity and the emotional & psychological impact of it, on her life.
Creating mosaics & compositions journalling these thoughts and tales especially in context to the contemporary issues like gender, sexuality, environment etc that play a predominant role in shaping of the woman of today & tomorrow.
To further my practice, I am also keen on exploring these issues with a common thread that runs through different cultures, geography & religions. And, its impact on women across the globe.
Charuka is quite intrigued with the tactile nature of paper & its endless possibilities. Hence, majority of her works involve gouache on paper, 3d paper sculpting, printmaking, drawings etc. Along with oil paintings.
Charuka is passionate about taking creativity & arts to the masses and in creating meaningful communities.
Her recent endeavour with www.artstoheart.com aims to indulge into meaningful community within the arts.
She has always been professionally restless and curious and has hence explored her practice within multiple dimensions with the arts.
Charuka Arora is a practicing artist and has been a design professional for over 5 years.
